The day centre is a purpose-built and welcoming building just five minutes' walk from the centre of Twyford. The main room is a large and comfortable lounge where most of the activities take place and here members can buy small items such as greeting cards. A loop system has been installed for those who are hard of hearing.
The conservatory is adjacent to the lounge and was completed in 2011. Here, members can sit quietly and enjoy the view of the garden or have a one-to-one chat with a friend or member of staff. Blinds keep the room cool in summer and after dark in winter can be drawn for privacy and to maintain the cosy atmosphere. In the warmer months members can sit outside in the garden.
The end of the lounge with a view over the garden is used as a dining area where members can enjoy home-cooked meals from the kitchen.
We provide home cooked meals, cooked on the premises. They are healthy, nutritious and varied every day – there is no such thing as menu fatigue! We enjoy a 5-star rating from the Food Standards Agency.
We have a selection of wheel chairs and walking frames in stock, which we can make available to people in need. A deposit would be required, but we do not charge for the loan of these items, all we would expect when the goods are returned is a donation towards the charity funds.
There is a limited supply and we would need at least three days notice to retrieve the goods from storage. Please call the Manager for details.
We offer a range of services to our members, their families and carers. These include:
We have our own charity shop in Twyford Village, the profits from which are used to support our services to members and enhance the facilities at the Centre.
This is a low cost handyman service for our members.
A basic call out fee will be charged - members enjoy a discounted rate of £10 whilst non-members are charged £20 per call out.
The type of work is limited to small jobs such as:
Jobs required not listed above need to be referred to the Centre Manager for approval.
At no time will any work requiring certification be attempted. This would include electrical, gas or major plumbing work, as well as painting, decorating or plastering etc.
To enjoy the services and facilities at Age Concern Twyford you need to become a member which costs just £20 annually. If you would like to join, please call the Manager on 0118 934 4040 or Email us.
